IAL pre-conference Excursion
British Mycological Society Upland Foray
Kindrogan has an inspiring sense of remoteness but is actually very accessible. Situated within the wildest area to be found in Britain, Kindrogan is nonetheless no more than two hours travel from Edinburgh. The centre enjoys the immediate access to the wildlife and dramatic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands with a rich and diverse range of field sites. We are delighted that Professor Bruce Ing has kindly agreed to lead the foray and arrange the weeks programme. Having been warden of Kindrogan in his youth he has an intimate knowledge of the surrounds and the specific habitats. Bruce will be supported by fellow BMS members who have expertise in their own mycological interests. More importantly we would like to utilise the strengths of our international mycological colleagues to develop "entente cordial" and share mycological expertise.
The centre has limited rooms available so some accommodation is off site. The workroom is set within walking distance of some of the most excellent and accessible field sites that the southern Cairngorms have to offer. It has recently undergone some refurbishment with bedrooms in the main building having ensuite facilities. We have access to a purpose built lab".
Further details and booking from Caroline Hobart.
Bookings will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis. Arrangements about pick-up before, and bringing back to Edinburgh before the Conference will be arranged nearer the time.
