Special Interest Group Meeting
Food mycology
Organiser
This session is being organised by the International Commission On Food Mycology.
Food Mycology is becoming more important world-wide with the potential impacts of climate change and sustainability issues and minimising waste in the food chain all receiving priority. This is also shown by Food Security being considered a key area for research nationally by the UK (BBSRC) Research Council and the EU.
This Session will be an opportunity for post-graduate students and post-doctoral scientists to present their work. This Session will concentrate on research being done at the present time by younger scientists with 1-2 keynote scene setting presentations. This is an opportunity for PhD students and post-doctoral scientists working in food mycology areas to showcase their work at the IMC9 event. Thus we encourage contributions in the areas of: (a) understanding the cell biology of food-borne fungi, (b) molecular advances in detection and ecology of food spoilage moulds, (c) mycotoxigenic moulds, and (d) novel methods for enhancing mould-free shelf-life of food.
