Glucose Oxidase
Glucose Oxidase is a well-characterized oxidoreductase enzyme (EC 1.1.3.4) widely used in biotechnology, diagnostics, and food industries. It catalyzes the oxidation of β-D-glucose to D-glucono-δ-lactone with the simultaneous production of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). Naturally derived from the fungus Aspergillus niger, this enzyme is highly specific for glucose, making it ideal for biosensor development, blood glucose monitoring, biocatalysis, and food preservation.
